Coy Wire Biography
Coy Wire is most remembered as a former linebacker and safety in the National Football League. In addition, he is well known as a sports anchor for CNN and HLN. Wire was born in 1978 in Pennsylvania and went on to attend Stanford University. Playing for the Cardinals at Stanford, Wire was an honorable mention All-Pac-10 in 2000 and a First-team All-Pac-10 in 2001. He debuted professionally in 2002 for the Buffalo Bills after being selected in the third round of the draft. Wire played the majority of his professional career with the Bills, amassing a total of six seasons. He was then traded to the Atlanta Falcons for his final two years in the NFL. After retiring from the sport as a player, Wire became an anchor for Fox Sports.

During his playing days, Coy received honors such as the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award with the Buffalo Bills, and the Ed Block Courage Award after being voted by his Atlanta Falcons teammates as a role model of inspiration, sportsmanship and courage.
