    I've never been fond of the old cliché "Opportunity meets the prepared observer." It seemed to say that those of us who had not found fortune or financial means to express our life's passion, our life's work by age thirty are somehow not prepared or we don't know how to dance with opportunity.

    But the thing is for the creative types, the artists, we do have to find opportunities to showcase what we design, make, write or create.

    By most measures photographer Peter Liepke went out and found success after he left the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. First assisting established photographers in Los Angeles, he then opened his own commercial studio. After the big earthquake hit in the late eighties, he took a leap.
